Moving towards social change: building knowledge base and effective legislation on equality and non-discrimination
Duration: 1 January 2016 – 31 December 2017.
The overall goal of the project is to increase political and public support for effective implementation of equality legislation.
Partners: Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights (NGO).
Objectives:
- to conduct legal research to evaluate existing equal treatment legislation with the aim to provide a set of recommendations for overcoming identified shortcomings in the current legal framework as well as for improvement of administrative mechanism;
- to foster institutional cooperation and mainstreaming activities to increase political support for equality policy improvement;
- to strengthen the authority, credibility and visibility of the National Equality Body by ensuring its independence and improving effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate;
- to educate and raise awareness of general public on non-discrimination in the framework of the international human rights documentary film festival “Inconvinient Films”.
The project is funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (REC Programme) of the European Commission.
